"Poems from the Balcony" (2020) is part of a larger series of works that I began to work with when the country shut down as a result of the corona pandemic. From home, I made daily collages, like visual poems, about viewing  the world from the balcony. The collages became sketches for new paintings and sculptures.

 

All the collagens in the series have a repeating undulating shape. The idea is that this is the shape of an awning - as if you are sitting on the balcony and looking out at the world in the shadow of the awning.

«Poems from the Balcony» (2020) er del av en større serie med arbeider som ble påbegynt da landet stengte ned som følge av koronapandemien. Hjemmefra begynte jeg å lage daglige collager, som visuelle dikt, om det å betrakte en ugjenkjennelig verden fra balkongen. Collagene ble skisser til nye malerier og skulpturer.

 

Alle collagene i serien har en gjentakende bølgende form. Tanken er at dette er formen av en markise - som om du sitter på balkongen og ser ut mot verden i skyggen av markisen.
